Honorary Fellow Event 2016

This year’s Honorary Fellow is Clive Barda OBE, one of the world’s greatest photographers of musicians, conductors and singers. For over five decades he has worked internationally with leading artists and opera houses capturing personalities, musical moments and extraordinary insights. Many of his photographs have become iconic, defining their subjects in our minds and imaginations.

The event to celebrate his Fellowship will take place in the Music Hall, Guildhall School of Music & Drama, on Monday 18th July at 7.00 pm. Clive will be joined by a panel of colleagues and friends to showcase and discuss his work, approach and techniques. This panel will include:

• Graeme Kay, BBC Radio 3, as moderator
• Jane Glover, conductor
• Steven Isserlis, cellist
• Colin Ford CBE, Founding Head of National Museum of Photography, Film and Television
• Philippe Monnet, French film maker

The event will include 10-minute film chosen by Philippe Monnet drawn from his documentary Clive Barda. Taking key photos from his career, Clive will share his approach, underlying philosophy, and how to reveal personality and musicianship. The panel will also contribute their experiences of working with Clive and their views of his work.

There will be the opportunity during the interval for those attending to submit their own questions to Clive and his friends, and Graeme Kay will lead what will be an interesting and lively discussion session.

The event is free to members and their guests, but for security reasons we need to know who is attending. Tickets will not be issued. Please (preferably) book via the Members’ Area of the Company website, or email or telephone the office to reserve a place.
