Recognises Achievment

The path to artistic success can be challenging, particularly in the period immediately after young musicians graduate from their Conservatoire, University or College. Many hours of study are an inevitable part of musical fulfilment and achievement. In close cooperation with all types of music education establishments, including those in the armed forces, the Company seeks to recognise dedication and excellence in young musicians. It also recognises more mature musicians whose service to the world of music has been considerable over many years.

Promotes Musical Events

The Company promotes numerous events to give promising young prize winners invaluable performance experience and to celebrate the Company’s own programme of activity and special anniversaries. They include:
  • The series of Musicians Company Concerts, given three times a year by young prizewinners at the Wigmore Hall
  • Our annual Carol Service in the City of London
  • An annual week of free lunchtime jazz in Finsbury Circus Gardens, as part of the City of London Festival, and jazz events at Pizza on the Park and the Globe Theatre
  • Our annual Choral Evensong in St Paul’s Cathedral
Not having their own Hall, members of the Company have the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful Livery Halls in the City. Highlights of the year include the Midsummer Banquet and the Master’s Installation Dinner, and there are many other annual musical events.

Publications

In addition to a collection of CDs the Company also produces a bi-annual newsletter 'Preserve Harmony'. It is recognised as amongst the best of its kind and contains Company news and articles on musical issues.
