Alexander Panfilov was born in Moscow and started taking piano lessons aged six. Since then he has performed throughout Europe and the USA. He has appeared with orchestras such as Belarussian State Philharmonic and Carlo Coccia Symphony. He worked with conductors Andrei Galanov, Francesco Monopoli and Alessandro Ferrari. As a soloist pianist he has performed in such venues as Carnegie Hall NY, Musikverein Vienna, Tonhalle Zurich, Moscow Philharmonic and many others. Alexander has participated in festivals such as Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Schwarzwald Music Festival, Ribble Valley Piano Week and Mozarteum in Saltzberg. He is a laureate of many international piano competitions including first prizes in Taranto and Brandt competitions along with many other awards.
Alexander started his professional studies at the Gnessin’s special music school for gifted children. Later on he entered the Moscow State Conservatory under Professor Andrei Diev. In 2012 he was awarded a full scholarship to study in the Northern College of Music under Professor Graham Scott. He also took part in masterclasses and lessons with such artists as Naum Starkman, Robert Levin, Martin Roscoe, Richard Good and Andrea Bonatta, among others. His repertoire spans an array of styles from Baroque to 21st century pieces.
