Biography

Katie is a recorder player, baroque oboist and medieval wind player. Having recently graduated with a First Class Honours Degree from the Royal College of Music, London, Katie is proud to be an RCM scholar studying under Professor Ashley Solomon, Julien Feltrin and Maria Martinez Ayerza, and renowned baroque oboist Gail Hennessy.

Since co-founding BLOCK4 in 2012, Katie is thrilled to be a member of the first recorder quartet to win the Royal Overseas League Ensemble Competition in its 65 year history. Performances with BLOCK4 have included prestigious venues all over London and Europe including the Elgar room of The Royal Albert Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Handel House Museum and Graz, with their upcoming debut at Wigmore Hall.

A three-month worldwide tour in September 2014 took Katie around the world performing in theatres in Taiwan, China, Russia and the Far East, playing recorders, shawms and percussion in the band for A Midsummer Night’s Dream with the Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.

Supported by a Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award, a Worshipful Company of Musicians Award and a Countess of Munster Music Trust Derek Butler Award, Katie is delighted to be able to continue her studies as a Postgraduate at the RCM in September 2015.
