Biography

Nathalie Chalkley is a graduate of Royal Academy Opera where she received a distinction and dipRAM. Some of her operatic highlights include Zerlina (Garsington Opera, Brigitta Festival, Estonia), Papagena (Garsington Opera, Emerging Artist), Susanna (Amersham Festival Opera), Sophie Scholl in the world premier of Sir Peter Maxwell Davis’ Kommiltonen! (RAO), Hero in Berlioz’s Beatrice and Benedict (RAO, Sir Colin Davis) and performing in Ryedale Festival Opera’s Cunning Little Vixen.

Nathalie’s recent concert appearances include a recital with Audrey Hyland at St John’s Smith Square, a recital of Schubert at the Oxford Lieder Festival with guitarist Christoph Denoth, participating in a performance of the entire of Wolf’s Italian Songbook and performing Finzi’s Dies Natalis and Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with Orchestra of the City. She has also recently performed a selection of Handel songs and arias with L’avventura in the Holywell Music Rooms, the Barn at Bury Court and in the Hackney Music Festival. She has also sung a selection of Bach and Handel arias with the English Concert conducted by Harry Bickett and Laurence Cummings and played the Wheel-of-Fortune Woman at the QEH’s performance of Delius’ A Village Romeo and Juliet. Her recent oratorio appearances include; Mozart Requiem in St. Martin’s in the Field, Judas Maccabeaus for Paul Spicer at St John’s Smith Square with the London Baroque Sinfonia, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio also at St. John’s Smith Square for Jeremy Jackman and Mozart’s Mass in C minor in Christchurch Priory, Dorset.

Nathalie regularly sings for Bampton Classical Opera. Her roles with them have included Ninetta in Mozart’s La Finta Semplice, Gasparina in Haydn’s Cantarina, Grilletta in Haydn’s Lo Speziale and Daphne in Handel’s Apollo and Daphne.
