Ashley Riches Recital: WCoM and Park Lane Group

Hear English song by composers including Parry, Elgar and Somervell from bass-baritone Ashley Riches at a concert commemorating the end of the First World War.

One hundred years after the Versailles Treaty was signed, officially ending the First World War, hear music from several of Parry’s Royal College of Music pupils who served in the war. George Butterworth was killed, Ivor Gurney was injured and Vaughan Williams served in the Royal Army Medical Corps.

One of our most exciting young talents, Ashley Riches is only the second winner of The Musicians’ Company Myra Verney Award for which the winner is given a solo concert. It’s taken a while to arrange this but, thanks to the efforts of Pastmaster Leslie East along with John Woolf and the Park Lane Group, it’s going to happen! And, also thanks to PLG, Michael Berkeley has written specially a new work for Ashley and his pianist Joe Middleton which fits superbly with Ashley’s chosen programme. Do support this super event!
