Bach Cantata

1.05pm. The Concert will be followed by lunch, for members and their guests, at The English Restaurant.

Continuing the Company tradition, in collaboration with City Music Society, the concert will include a cantata by Johann Sebastian Bach: No. 209, an unusual secular setting in Italian describing the departure of a young man for military service. Its highly ornamental flute solo resonates appropriately with the Flute Concerto by Bach’s son, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, born 300 years ago this year, which will precede the cantata. The Musicians’ Company Consort of baroque specialists from the leading London conservatoires, directed by Professor Adrian Butterfield, is joined by two outstanding young soloists, the soprano Raphaela Papadakis and the baroque flautist Sophie Clayton.

Members may book via the Members Area.
