Biography

Swedish mezzo soprano Ida Ränzlöv is currently finishing her training at the International Opera School (RCMIOS) at the Royal College of Music, where she studies with Dinah Harris as a Victoria Robey Scholar supported by an Independent Opera Award.

Ida began her training at the Malmö Academy of Music, from where she received her Bachelor of Music in Performance and graduated with distinction in 2016.

Recent roles include Eduige Rodelinda (Cambridge Handel Opera Company), The Fox The Cunning Little Vixen (RCMIOS), The Daughter The Vanishing Bridegroom for (British Youth Opera), Faramondo Faramondo (London Handel Festival) and Arminda La finta giardiniera (RCMIOS). Other performed roles include Rosina Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Flora La Traviata, Kate Julien Owen Wingrave and Romeo I Capuleti e I Montecchi. Upcoming performances includes the role of Kate Pinkerton Madama Butterfly for Glyndebourne Festival 2018, where she’s also a Jerwood Young Artist. In the autumn of 2018 she will become a member of the Opera Studio Stuttgart.

Her studies were generously supported by  Aurora Lillieros Scholarship, Anders Sandrew Trust, Anna Withlock’s Memory Trust, John Andersson i Anderslöv Foundation, the Josephine Baker Trust, Vivien & Peter Beckwith Fund and the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation.
