Biography

James Goodwin started playing the trombone at the age of 10 at his local brass band. In 2014 was awarded a scholarship to The Guildhall School of Music and Drama under the tutelage of Eric Crees, Peter Gane and Christopher Holding. Now studying on the Orchestral Artistry Course at the Guildhall School, he is the Principal Trombone of the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, been a member of the Chipping Campden Festival Academy Orchestra for the past two years and was a Britten-Pears Young Artist 2018. Recent highlights for him were being able to play Mahler’s 3rd symphony with the London Mahler Orchestra in Southwark Cathedral and Mahler’s 5th symphony with the Guildhall Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican.
