Biography

British violinist Maxim Del Mar is studying at the Royal College of Music, London, for a Master of Performance in Historical Violin with Adrian Butterfield, where he is an RCM Scholar supported by a Musicians’ Company Lambert Studentship. Maxim graduated from the University of York in 2017 with a First Class degree in Music and won the John Paynter Prize for an outstanding contribution to the musical life of the Department. At York he was a member of the University’s Eboracum String Quartet which gave several public concerts each term. It was during this time that Maxim began to explore historically informed performance, and since picking up a baroque violin, Maxim has gone on to perform Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 4, the Concerto for Violin and Oboe, and ‘Summer’ from Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, as well as a growing wealth of chamber music. He has played under the direction of Catherine Martin and Bojan Cicic, and with ensembles including I Fagiolini, Yorkshire Baroque Soloists and the London Handel Orchestra under Lawrence Cummings.
